Caring for Ludmilla Creek

Join Landcare NT and local restoration champion Simon Love for a practical introduction to Landcare and environmental restoration in action.
For more than 20 years, Simon has been restoring native vegetation along Ludmilla Creek. This free community event will explore how local people can work together to protect and improve the health of our urban waterways.
Through this event, we will explore:
What do we value?
From healthy waterways and thriving native plants and wildlife to the importance of community green spaces and the long‑term wellbeing of Ludmilla Creek.
What threatens these values?
We’ll also take a closer look at the key threats facing these values, including invasive weeds such as Coffee Bush, Guinea Grass, Mission Grass, Gamba Grass, Rubbervine and Ivy Gourd, as well as the impacts of fire, increased fuel loads, illegal dumping and general rubbish.
What can we do about it?
Together, we’ll discuss practical actions we can take to protect and restore the area. This includes effective weed management, reducing fuel loads, encouraging natural regeneration, revegetating with native species, and supporting ongoing monitoring and community stewardship.

What to bring:
Participants are encouraged to wear enclosed shoes and bring a hat, water bottle and sun protection.
