The Ludmilla Creek Citizen Science BioBlitz 2026 is a hands-on weekend of discovery, inviting the community to work alongside scientists to explore and document the remarkable biodiversity of Ludmilla Creek.
A BioBlitz is a festival of science in nature. Over a concentrated period of time, scientists, naturalists and community members come together to record as many species as possible within a defined area, gathering valuable data while learning directly from experts in the field.
Across the weekend, participants can join guided surveys led by local scientists and specialists, including:
Birds
Bats
Small mammals
Reptiles and frogs
Vegetation
Surveys will take place across the Ludmilla Creek catchment, with activities scheduled in the morning, afternoon and evening to align with the rhythms of different species. Numbers for each survey are limited to ensure a safe, engaging and high-quality experience.
The BioBlitz is suitable for adults and families, with children welcome on selected activities under supervision. No scientific experience is needed, just curiosity, a sense of adventure, and a willingness to look a little more closely.
Join us and become a citizen scientist for a day, helping to build knowledge, deepen connection to Ludmilla Creek, and contribute to its ongoing care.
Places are limited and registration is essential.
